A Rainy Day....

We have all heard the expression, "save it for a rainy day". Well, I am sitting here this rainy day waiting for a seminar to begin. This may sound 'odd', but I enjoy rainy days as they remind me to slow down and enjoy. Most of all they remind me of a ritual my best friend and I had back in the 90's when I was living in New Jersey. On rainy days like this, we would meet at one or the others' house, which usually ended up being her house, as she had a huge collection of old movies. We would make a simple lunch of tuna salad sandwich and a soup, to remind us of the humble beginnings from whence we both came.

Although the meal was simple, it was always served on china or a favorite everyday set of dishes we owned. That was part of the fun as both she and I were collectors of sets of bone china as well as everyday vintage ceramic and stoneware. Always, we would brew a pot of tea. Usually this was an ordinary and inexpensive mutually favorite named Constant Comment, but sometimes we would instead serve Earl Grey. Always, also, we would sit and watch a black-and-white movie.. You know, the classic films featuring timeless movie stars, fabulous fashions, fabulous sets, and great plots. Anyway, the rainy day did not seem so rainy, anymore, and we always ended the visit with more tea and good conversation.

So on this rainy afternoon, I thought it was about time I bring that ritual online. Although it is virtual, we can gather together online to share, laugh, and form new friendships over a good cup of tea. After all, gathering with friends over tea on a rainy day (or any day) is one of life's simple pleasures. Juicy tidbits and golden nuggets of wisdom, smiles, hugs, and more are given and received..These are some of the best things to be shared on a rainy day! :-)

Pull up a chair and grab a cup! It may or may not be pouring rain where you are, but it's pouring friendship and TEA right here!
